Ag: The Art and Science of Silver

The Art and Science of Silver in the Changing Gallery on the 2nd floor to learn all about the precious metal silver. Set in a traditional Silversmith's workshop, this exhibition will highlight the importance of silver throughout history and within our world today. Hands-on activities will lead you and your little ones through the process of making silver, and rare silver items on display will highlight the beauty of this naturally occurring metal.
Eight interactives placed throughout the exhibition are sure to spark creativity and curiosity in visitors of all ages:
At the Chasing Station, try your hand at decorating metal using traditional Silversmith's tools.
At the Forge, pump the bellows and make flame rise!
Create the impression of a Silver teapot at the Rubbing Station!
Design a Teapot based on two traditional designs or come up with your own!
Watch silver's conductive properties in real time as you draw and complete circuits at Draw-A-Circuitl
Shape metal from scratch using a hammer at the Anvil!
Take a leap in time as you discover traditional uses of silver in Then and Now
Create a keepsake coin by using the Coin Stamping machine!
